Welcome to the USS Pandora NCC-83739!

The year is 2388. After nearly a decade, the Federation and her Allies have managed to recover most of what was lost during the Dominion War. Starfleet had undertaken a massive rebuilding program in attempts to fulfill its secondary purpose of defense while remaining true to its original charge...exploration.

Now a new shadow looms on the horizon, the shadow of conflict. A catastrophic natural disaster unlike any that has ever been encountered before threatens to overturn everything the Federation and her Allies have fought so hard for. Only two years after departing Utopia Planetia Fleet Yards for the very first time, the Luna-class USS Pandora and her crew have proved themselves through the fire of trial. She continues to serve in defense of the Federation while holding onto that which has been the core of Starfleet's very being since its inception: "To boldly go where no one has gone before."

My name is Vice Admiral Iluvar, Starfleet's foremost expert on the region known as the Briar Patch and commanding officer of the USS Pandora. Having been the only outsider to spend more than a few days on the surface of the Ba'ku planet, I have a somewhat unique perspective of the world around me. The Pandora's diverse crew has been assembled from the various reaches of Starfleet and has come together with the intent of carrying this ship to glory.

Now the question becomes, are you up to the challenge of joining them in that goal? Do you have what it takes to blaze new trails, brave the unknown, and face the hidden secrets of the "final frontier"? If so, then we'd love to have you join us as we carry on Starfleet's mission and have an interesting and fun-filled ride along the way.

I'd like to take this opportunity to welcome you aboard and invite you to join our crew as we search out the unknown. Take a look at our open positions list for opportunities to join the crew or take a look at the Horizon Fleet homepage for opportunities to join other simms.

» My Recent Absence and the Current Mission

Posted on Sat Nov 26th, 2011 @ 9:28am by Vice Admiral Iluvar in Simm Announcement

Ladies and Gentlemen,

Some of you may have noticed a significant decline in the amount of activity aboard the USS Pandora over the past few weeks and I must apologize that I have not been taking a more active role in leading by example. It has been a difficult month for many of us as far as our real life commitments are concerned, which has unfortunately made it difficult for us to push forward with our new mission as originally planned. We also find ourselves faced with the upcoming holiday season and the additional demands upon our time typically associated with this time of year.

I want to make clear my desire to continue with our current mission and the simulation as a whole. This December will mark the fourth anniversary of my first being appointed command of the USS Tethys (which later became the USS Pandora). Looking back at all we have accomplished together these past four years is enough to make any commanding officer proud. It is because of your efforts this simulation has become known across the fleet as a group which embarks on impressive missions while still making time for quality character development. There is no doubt in my mind, with persistence, we will be able to continue that tradition into the new year.

It is at this time I would like to ask each of you to drop me a line and let me know generally what your expectations for activity levels are for the remainder of this calendar year. Are you expecting to travel for the holidays? Do you have school or work assignments you expect will be taking up your time? How much do you think you could be contributing to our simulation between now and 31 December 2011? This does not need to be a lengthy message, but I do expect each member to send me something so that I can have a better picture of what we will be working with.

Concurrent to this news post, you will all be receiving the start to a joint mission post which will show our arrival at the Romulan Colony of Nerus V along with the USS Clara Barton. I strongly encourage everyone to participate in this joint mission post as much as they can as it will quickly be followed by another joint post depicting our first away team to visit the surface. It is my hope that we will be able to push forward with this mission as all are able so that we will have seen some forward progression by the end of this year.

Respectfully,

» Bidding Adieu to a Medical Warrior

Posted on Sun Oct 30th, 2011 @ 11:06am by Vice Admiral Iluvar in Simm Announcement

Ladies and Gentlemen,

It is with deepest regret I must announce the removal of our Chief Medical Officer, Lieutenant Thelin ch'Rassa MD. We all very much appreciate the contributions he has made to this simulation and its crew in the time he has been simming with us. He has made an effort to interact with others both in and out-of-character as well as worked to develop her character in its relationships with others aboard the Pandora. This has been perhaps most evidenced by the number of awards he has received on behalf of myself and this crew as a whole based on her contributions during his brief time amongst us.

Please join me in thanking Lieutenant Thelin ch'Rassa MD and in wishing him all the best in his future endeavors. May he know that he is always welcome to return or reapply...our door is always open.

» USS Pandora Adopts Non-Canon Uniform & Rank Insignia

Posted on Mon Oct 3rd, 2011 @ 5:01pm by Vice Admiral Iluvar in Simm Announcement

Ladies and Gentlemen,

A little over one week ago, I offered up a proposal regarding the uniforms we currently use aboard the USS Pandora and solicit your opinions on whether or not we were interested in effecting a change in uniform style as part of our in-character development. You have all hopefully had the opportunity to review the options presented at the uniform page before voting for which option you felt would be the best for our simulation.

It is my duty to inform you that by a unanimous consent of those who cast their votes, the USS Pandora will officially be transitioning over to the style of uniform designed by Kikmequik. One important thing to note is, although there have been two significant changes to departmental colors as per Kikmequik's design, fleet policy requires we maintain the canon departmental colors for the time being.

Thank you to all of those who contribute their time and voices to this decision-making process. The following entry has been added to the website with regards to Starfleet uniforms:

=========================================
Starfleet Uniform (circa late-2380s)

By the late 2380s, Starfleet began introducing a duty uniform which returned to the two-piece black jumpsuit with division color on the shoulders. Under the uniform jacket was a division-colored undershirt. Comparable to a utility jumpsuit, the uniform first saw initial use as it was phased in aboard starships and installations during 2387. -- Kikmequik's Uniforms

More Information Regarding Current Uniforms may be Found HERE.
LCARS Database entries for USS Pandora Uniforms and USS Pandora Ranks & Insignia may be found here.

=========================================

As you can see, these new uniforms will begin phasing in aboard vessels and installations across the Federation (including our sister ship, the USS Orlando-A) throughout the remainder of 2387 with full implementation occurring by 2390. I envision the first appearances of such uniforms taking place during our current mission, especially when it comes to such variants as the field jacket, engineering jumpsuits, and medical variants. You will also notice the crew manifest has been updated to reflect this uniform change. Standard duty uniforms will also start appearing as we proceed further into subsequent missions until Kikmequik's design becomes the default aboard the Pandora.

If anyone has any questions, comments, or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact me via email or private message.

Respectfully,

Vice Admiral Iluvar
