Standing at 5'8" and weighing 175 pounds, Jake is an average human and tends to dress quite simply. His dark brown hair is often confused for black and his brown eyes convey a warmth and kindness reflected by his kind personality. Personality & Traits
General Overview | Jake is well known amongst his acquaintances as a mild mannered, generous person who conveys a kindness and warmth that gives a feeling of comfort and openness, particularly of one willing to listen and help in any way that he can.
Strengths & Weaknesses | While he is known for his generosity and kindness, Jake tends to be slightly withdrawn, due to his experiences as a child growing up aboard a starship. In addition, the emotional upheaval of losing his mother at an early age merely aggrivated this defensive posture. In addition to his strong leadership abilities and his unique ability to reason things out, Jake is known for his kindness and generosity. Jake has very few weaknesses, but the death of his mother and the feeling of abandonment that he felt when his father sent him to live on Earth cause him to become withdrawn at times. However, this causes him to enjoy spending time with the children and youth aboard ship, if there are any. It is almost as if he want\'s to make up for his lost childhood by helping the children aboard ship enjoy their own. |
|
Ambitions | Though Jake has always had an eye for command, he decided that making himself a well rounded Starfleet officer, capable of various services to Starfleet was also an admirable goal.
Hobbies & Interests | Jake is fascinated with flight, from the Wright Flyer to modern starships. In addition, he spends his time camping and enjoying the outdoors, though sometimes he must settle for a holodeck recreation. He also enjoys history and cultural studies, particularly of Earth and the Federation, though he has found interest in the latest knowledge brought back by Voyager from the Delta Quadrant.

Personal History | Jacob "Jake" Warrington was born aboard the USS Revere to parents Lieutenant Commander Michael Warrington, the ship's first officer, and Autumn Warrington. He spent most of his childhood aboard ship since his father was an accomplished first officer. When Jake was only 12, he already had an advanced knowledge of the operation of a starship. He and his father got along really well and he always wanted to be a Starfleet officer, just like his father. At age 14, he lost his mother when the Revere came under attack by three Cardassian warships, causing an entire section of the ship to be exposed to space. Neither Jake nor his father were the same after his mother?s death. Michael, fearing for his son's safety, sent him to live on Earth with a family friend, Joshua Detter. Detter wasn't a Starfleet officer, but he strongly supported Starfleet in any way he could, which meant providing a wonderful cafe for the officers to relax in during their off hours. This gave Jake the chance to make friends with more than just the other kids who happened to be on the ship, but he found that he missed the structured life of a starship. So, on his 17th birthday, Jake passed the Academy entrance exams and was accepted as a Starfleet Cadet. Still interested in getting his own command one day, Jake put everything he had into his studies, focusing especially on engineering and starship operations. His instructors found that he also had a great knack for understanding such abstract concepts as temporal mechanics. Since he had only been on Earth for three years since his mother's death, he hadn't made as many friends as he had hoped. During his time at the Academy, he befriended his roommate, George Hutcherson. The two spent much of their free time together, sometimes using their allotted holodeck time to pretend that they were the great Starfleet Captains with their own ships and crews. Upon graduation, the two were assigned to different vessels and didn't see much of each other except via subspace communication. Jake was assigned as an engineering officer aboard the Sovereign-class USS Wellington. On one mission, Jake accurately deduced that the Klingon vessels they were communicating with were not under Klingon control. He had identified several discrepancies in the energy signatures being produced by different systems aboard the Klingon ships. Most of these signatures were identifiable of several different races from the Alpha Quadrant, which lead to the discovery that the ships were actually "owned" by Ferengi marauders. His quick thinking helped the crew to avert trading some rather dangerous, but valuable equipment to what they had thought were allied vessels. Before long, he received a transfer to the USS Wellington, a Sovereign-class vessel that operated near the Romulan border. Upon the retirement of the Wellington's chief engineer, Jacob was promoted to the position of Assistant Chief Engineering Officer by the very woman who had held the position before him. The Wellington went to full alert when a perceived Reman threat was anticipated, but that event was prevented by the crew of the USS Enterprise. A few days later, the Wellington was sent to investigate an anomalous reading not too far from the Romulan Neutral Zone, thought to be a possible cloaking device signature. It turned out to be a temporal anomaly in which an unknown vessel was trapped. The now Lieutenant JG Warrington was assigned to lead the away team to investigate. When they arrived on the vessel, they found it to be abandoned, but with an oddly Starfleet signature. Before they could find out any more, the vessel began to get dragged into the anomaly. The Wellington was required to perform an emergency beam-out or risk getting pulled in as well. During transport, Jake was almost lost due to excessive interference from the temporal wake. Because of his exposure, it appeared that his body had been slightly rejuvenated and that an old injury he had sustained during an away mission as a child had mysteriously healed itself. When no other adverse side effects were observed, he returned to duty and the mysterious vessel was lost to Starfleet, along with its secrets. In 2384, Jake was transferred to the USS Frontier as the vessel's new Chief Engineer. Transport to the Frontier was arranged aboard the USS Tethys. After meeting with Commodore Mordred Ocal, Jake eventually made his way to Engineering to get accustomed to his new assignment. It was at this time that he met the Frontier's helmsman, Lieutenant JG John Forest, who was having trouble with the navigation sensors. Jake offered his assistance and Forest reciprocated by introducing Warrington to other members of the crew. On Jake's first mission aboard the Frontier, he had his first encounter with the Elyshans and their technology. The Frontier was dispatched to investigate rumors of a rogue Federation starship making raids in the border regions. It turned out that the vessel had been configured by an Elyshan faction in an attempt to discredit the Federation negotiations. The attempt was thwarted by the Frontier crew. Returning from an Engineering conference, Jake was conscripted by Starfleet to assist in locating the Frontier, which had been pulled into the Mirror-Universe. He was instrumental in helping to locate the rift and Commander Vickers' shuttle. Together, they were able to help the Frontier to return to their own universe. On another ocassion, Jake and the entire crew were "tested" by Q. Their test consisted of an encounter with the Krenim Imperium in an alternate timeline experienced by the Voyager crew as well as the events leading up to the Battle of Chin'toka during the Dominion War as experienced by the crew of DS9. The crew, having passed the test, were allowed to return to their own time and place. More recently, Jake helped to restore power systems on a colony that were being caused by a damaged Borg Sphere under the ocean of the planet. He often jokes that he has had to rebuild the Frontier more than once for Ocal. On more than one occasion, he has joined her in a holographic version of the Harry Potter book series, playing the part of a student. Since his arrival on the ship, he has become friends with a number of the crew, including John Forest and David Skii. When Jake learned from Starfleet Medical that the chroniton radiation was constantly rejuvinating his cells and that he would appear as an 18-year-old for the rest of his life, he took the news quite hard. Lt. JG Forest tracked him down, finding him in a Landing Strut Maintenance room. Through persistance and perseverance, Forest managed to convince Jake to come out of his hiding place, but he felt as if trying to talk to the young man about it was like hitting a duranium bulkhead. Instead, he turned to Ambassador Ocal, hoping that she would be able to help Jake out of his depression and back onto his feet. In early 2385, Jake was selected to oversee the refit of the USS Frontier at Utopia Planetia. Upon hearing of the capture and subsequent escape of Ambassador Ocal, he commandeered the Frontier and stole it from the shipyards. He rondevoused with a Klingon Bird of Prey carrying Lt. Mor'tah and Commander Sarah Vickers before arriving at the site of the Battle of Altorus in time to help secure the Ambassador's shuttle. For his act of stealing the Frontier, he expected to receive severe disciplinary action. Instead, due to the Ambassador speaking on his behalf, he merely received a note in his personnel file. Jake continued to serve as the Frontier's chief engineer through mid-2386. Realizing the difficulties that he would continue to face in his position, namely his ongoing conflict with that vessel's executive officer, Jake made the difficult decision to leave the USS Frontier. He would not be going alone, however. His trusted assistant chief, Ensign Thomas Rolands, chose to accompany his friend and superior officer to whatever assignment they would find themselves in. The two engineers disembarked from the Frontier at Starbase 214, having concluded their tour of duty there. Jake suspected that the delay they were experiencing in learning their next assignment had to do with more than simply the timing of the request. A few days later, however, he received orders to report to Deep Space Four, where he would rendezvous with the starship USS Pandora to assume the role of Interim Chief Engineer. As temporary of an assignment as it sounded like it might be, Jake knew that he would rather serve aboard ship than behind a desk. He accepted the offered position and, together with Thomas, set out for Deep Space Four. |
