Personality & Traits
General Overview | Bok is often upbeat and jovial but can make things difficult when things don't go his way.
Strengths & Weaknesses | Stubborn, argumentative, but also playful. A good and hearty friend who loves a good laugh. He is loyal to those he is friendly to and slow to warm up to those he is not. He is slow to admit his faults. He has a very definite lack of patience.
Ambitions | Bok has no ambitions beyond repairing starship engines, although if the opportunity to design them came about... He feels that his race has been under-represented in Starfleet and would like to use his example to recruit more Tellarites.
Hobbies & Interests | Bok is an avid student of Federation history, mostly the great awakening period from 2245-2270, though he is versed on the periods before and after. He loves reading, though doesn't always trust computer copies of history texts, preferring instead to have the original texts. He is a third level initiate of the Tellarite sport Bak-ta, similar to sumo wrestling. He loves to tinker in building small machines though sometimes has some unexpected accidents (perhaps not so unexpected at this point) with his experiments. He has had several other failed pastimes including culinary arts (what he made could not have been called art). |

Personal History | Bok was born on the Tellarite Colony Bravil. Life on the small colony was hard and full of disappointments. There was not much to offer there in the way of trade or materials. The poor planet had little to offer to other worlds, but to Bok and his family it was home. His father supported the family with his recycled metal business. There were a few humans on the settlement, but they mostly kept to their own areas. The few times the factions tried to cooperate it turned out poorly. Bok sometimes sought out fights with the human kids his age with the his gang. They loved to lord their greater size and strength over the humans. The parisis squares games seemed to be the only events which brought the communities together. When one of the humans was seriously injured in one of those fights he worked to put a stop to the strife. He oft-times butted heads with his Tellarite friends when they tried to start these fights. Sometimes it takes the biggest bully to realize he's wrong to try to put things right. He longed to travel but his family income did not allow for such excursions. He had an interest in astronomy, history and engineering. Opportunites were few in furthering those studies until he was accepted to Starfleet Academy. Bok was a slightly better than average student at the academy. He excelled in history and engineering classes. Arguments with his instructors about his engineering theories were not unheard of. He did not fare as well in leadership and diplomatic studies. One of the instructors, Lt. Commander Zhleman, known to have a few screwball theories of his own, was the most likely to be a sounding board for Bok's theories. Zhleman, a Zaranite, was only partially successful in getting Bok to realize that he needed to put in solid data and proof behind his theories. Before Bok's junior year at the Academy Lt. Commander Zhleman was killed during the summer break in an accident on the Ventura Colony. Zhleman was assisting the colonist in rebuilding their energy production facility which had been damaged in an earthquake. Zhleman was attempting to rescue people trapped by an explosion within the facility when a secondary explosion took his life. Bok was well liked but did not form any close bonds to the other students, especially after the death of his mentor. |

Service Record | After graduation from the Academy he had a one year tour aboard the destroyer USS Henneman. The tour was mostly forgettable but his skill in engineering did come through. It was during his year on the Henneman that he finally started mixing with people again. He work in engineering and the team attitude was probably what brought him out of his self-imposed exile. Though he often argued with the Chief Engineer, Bok's superior nominated him as a candidate to be a Chief. |
