Description | The room is used as a meeting place for the ship's senior staff as well as special events and gatherings. Some go to the observation lounge simply for the view. ==Layout== On any Starfleet starship, a well equipped and private briefing room is essential. The captain and senior officers need a dedicated area, away from the rest of the crew, in which they can discuss orders without fear of interruption, make plans for forthcoming missions and consider other points relating to the general running of the ship. For the U.S.S.Pandora, operating on the front lines of the Federation frontier, such a room is especially important; the decisions that affect the Pandora are made by the senior staff, with occasional support from Horizon Fleet or Starfleet Command. The Luna class observation lounge is connected directly to the bridge via two doors on either side of the main viewscreen. The shape of the conference table matches the curvature of the exterior hull, and has seating and data pads for ten individuals. Steps inside the lounge lead down to the table level. Two display screens are located at either side of the room, behind the table and adjacent to the doors, and beside which sit two replicators. Along the bulkhead shared with the main viewscreen on the bridge is a holographic projection, which features an artistic rendering of the Luna-class USS Pandora. During mission briefings, this holographic image is dismissed, and replaced with a large computer terminal - the room's primary imaging system for giving mission presentations. |
