[[Unanswered Questions - MD01, 0945hrs, USS Pandora, Science Lab]]

Michael walked into the orderly science lab and glanced around. He always liked coming in here; the idea of so much sophistacated equipment for scanning and analyzing excited him. But right now he stood with his hands on his hips as he glanced about and gave a huff.

Matt had entered the lab to work on a simulation earlier that morning to find the small office in the corner of the room emptied out. Guessing that they would be getting a new chief science officer, he wanted to clean the office a little better so that whoever it was didn't walk into what had been left behind. Hearing the doors to the main lab open and close, he peeked his head out from the office and saw the ships Chief Medical Officer standing just inside the door.

"Good morning, Commander." Matt said, walking over towards the doctor.

Michael turned and noticed the dark-eyed Ensign. "Lessly," he greeted, "hi. Say, you haven't seen Toby around have you?"

"Toby?" Matt responded, taking a moment to remember who he was being asked about. "No sir, I'm sorry, I haven't seen him since yesterday afternoon."

Michael huffed with a disappointed look on his face. "I'm always leaving that tricorder somewhere," he said. "Maybe Andetti has seen him," he considered. He glanced around again in a futile attempt to find his missing tricorder, his gaze passing over the various work stations. He thought fleetingly of that odd DNA strand displayed on one of the consoles, then shook his head.

"I wish we'd had more time with that biomatter sample," Mike said to Lessly. "I've never seen the like."

Matt crossed his arms and nodded. "I know we could have gotten to the bottom of it if starfleet wouldn't have pulled us out so early in the investigation."

Mike nodded in frustrated agreement. "I guess it was just a little too interesting," he said sardonically, then glanced at Lessly. "Bah, don't mind me," he continued with a half-smile and a wave of his hand. "I've been a little off since... for the past few months. Besides," he said, "I'll feel better once I've found Toby."

Matt nodded. "I'll keep an eye out for him and tell you if I find him." he responded.

Mike smiled as he left. "Thanks."
