Earlond’s gone too far this time, I just know it. I trust him and respect him, but he’s always been a little too close to that line between lawful and unlawful. I don’t know for sure what the specifics are, but I’m sure it has something to do with that missing Flyer. The Doc's gone, so Earlond probably assigned him to whatever secret mission this was. Two Sec/Tac personnel are also missing - I'm sure they're also with the Flyer. I also heard a rumor while I was in the mess hall that the chief Shuttle Pilot was the one that got clearance for taking out the Flyer. He's also the one that came here from a background of Starfighter Piloting and the Marines...that makes three combatants and a doctor. Whatever Earlond was planning with that team, it can't be good. I hope they make it back okay.
How could Earlond do something like that, though, especially now? Admiral Iluvar has enough on his plate without having to worry about Earlond’s eccentricities. Lately, I've been tuning into the rumors flying around - I know that probably none of them are true, but most seem to indicate that Iluvar's in some pretty deep trouble with the JAG. I've always thought Iluvar was a fine officer and an excellent leader; even in my time under another CO, I heard nothing but respectful things about him. I can't imagine that he's really in any serious trouble - what could he have done to upset the JAG? But he certainly doesn't need Earlond's problems right now. For all his skill in combat, I’m not quite sure Earlond is cut out for command. I’d gladly serve under him any day, but he needs to learn to operate within the proper regulations.
