Good News to Some

I just heard that the Commander’s been confined to quarters. Good. I’m glad someone’s finally punishing him. I’ve spent too long under his thumb to feel bad at all that he’s gotten himself in trouble. Honestly, what kind of XO goes and sends a team off on an unauthorized mission? I certainly wouldn't. And yet they put the loose cannon as second in command of the entire ship! I'm not one to listen to rumors, but I have heard that the Doctor is missing. I wouldn't be surprised if the Commander sent him off in hopes he'd be killed. I have little doubt that whoever the Commander sent won't be coming back in one piece.

I’m sure he won’t get in any real trouble, though; he has a knack for somehow avoiding any kind of real punishment. Then again, maybe we’ll all get lucky, and they’ll lock him up for good. Maybe then my talents would finally be recognized for what they are. I've been slaving away in this department for two years - and several years before that on other ships - and what have I got to show for it? Nothing. What I'd really like is to command the department, but I doubt that's going to happen. All this time, the Commander’s been holding me back – even when he wasn’t in the department! I’ll be glad when he’s gone.
