This mission so far has proved to be quite...disturbing, though intriguing as well, in a way. Mostly things simply don't add up. Although I was rather leery about the idea of our mission initially, it at least made sense. Of course, that might have been exactly what the Romulans wanted us to think.

I must admit to being somewhat surprised that the D'Kar would lead us to this colony world. I'm not entirely sure what exactly it has to do with the Romulan defenses. I wouldn't put it past the Romulans to have brought us here for another reason, although what that might be I have no idea...

The away team's visit to the colony didn't exactly shed light on why exactly we were there. Based on the colonists' reaction, they hadn't been expecting to be a part of the 'tour', but they also seemed very apathetic. It's not a trait I'm used to seeing in Romulans, that's for sure. The Governor was, like most politicians, completely worthless. Earlond or I could ask a specific question and get some general answer that didn't actually answer anything.

The most we could find out was that they'd been conducting some scientific research. As the Governor pointed out, a colony would be doing some research. However, I can't get rid of the feeling that there's more to it.

I'm sure that something is going on there... When the colonists collapsed early on in our visit, there was little to no concern about them from the other colonists; it seems they're used to seeing it. Part of me wonders if the colony's scientists are doing some genetic experiments and that's what caused the colonists to collapse. It certainly seems like something Romulans would do, in any event. Or perhaps they're experimenting on something else which is causing the colonists' illness.

Perhaps I should touch base with one of the Doctors... It could be that they've found something of significance. If so, it might help me decide what approach to take if or when we go back to the colony. Then again, even not finding something is meaningful.

This mission has certainly given me a lot to think about. I'll try to find Korina (NPC); maybe I can bounce some ideas off of her.
