A House Divided

With the appearance of the IRW Seras and the final revelation that we had been deceived by members of the Romulan Imperial State, the USS Pandora is returning to Federation space under escort. Although I know it is difficult for my crew to abandon what is so clearly a world of suffering and need, we cannot allow ourselves to forsake our duty or cast aside the respect that must be given to the wishes of the Romulan Empire.

Our experience here has shown us that the situation within the Empire is quite different than the reports from Starfleet might have indicated. Yes, it was clear that there was strife amongst the three major factions, but there was nothing to prepare us for what we witnessed at Nerus V. It is a child that has been utterly abandoned by its parent, left to fend entirely for itself in the harshest of conditions. While I can understand the reason for the D'Kar's deception, I am no more approving of their methods, for they have put my ship and my crew in a very difficult position.

As we continue back toward familiar territory, I cannot help but think of an old Earth saying, "A house divided against itself cannot stand." The Romulan Empire, as we have known it, ceased to exist when Shinzon executed his coup against the Romulan Senate. If they can find no way to reconcile themselves amongst one another, I fear that they shall fall to their own division...and perhaps the ruin of many.
