Looking for Possibilities

Mission: Episode 2.2 - "Resistance"

Timeline: Mission Day 03, 1315 hours

Alistair (PNPC) and Jack were knee deep in nearly every spec that they had come up with for dealing with the Borg. Lt. Alana had gone off to talk to Ensign Vosh about possible offensive weapons that they could use against them. So far, neither of the two officers had been able to come up with something that hadn't been tried before.

"This is impossible," Alistair grumbled. "Its the freaking Borg! There is no way to win against them."

"Voyage seemed to fair alright," Jack put in, looking up from the PADD he was currently reading. "And they didn't have all the advanced stuff that we have now. Besides, I am sure that the admiral will think of something."

"And if he doesn't?" Alistair asked.

"Then I guess you better have really enjoyed your time with ensign Harris last night," Jack smiled.

"How did you know that!" Alistair snapped.

"Because its you," Jack shrugged. "It sort of what you do, I swear I think you and one of the operations officers on the Malinche trade notes. He's been known to act the same way...at least thats what I heard."

"None of your business Jack," Alistair snapped. "But if you must know we both had a VERY good time."

"Way more then I needed to know, do you have the plans for the deflector pulse idea that the Enterprise D came up with?"

Alistair handed over the requested PADD. "It won't work, the Borg adapted to it before the Enterprise crew even got to use it."

"Then we adjust it some," Jack said, looking up from the PADD. "What about if we added a few phase converters to the deflector, it would shift the variance...thats not something that the Borg have seen before."

"We'd have to pull nearly all the ships power to make something like that work, we'd only get one shot at it too. Plus we'd burn out the deflector and risk causing the engines to go into auto-shut down."

"Alright," Jack said, tossing the PADD onto the table. "I don't suppose you have any brilliant ideas?"

"I was working on a way to modify our torpedoes," Alistair said, pulling up a schematic on the wall display. "What if we manually adjust the variance of the torpedoes harmonics. We wouldn't get very many shots off with it but it might be enough to cause some serious damage."

"Its a possibility, we'd have to work with ops to set up a pretty intensive subroutine to link everything together," Jack said. "Not to mention that we would have to have every single torpedo assigned to a single person."

"All doable," Alistair nodded. "I say we put it into the possible file."
