Mission: Episode 2.2 - "Resistance"
Location: Aharonov's Quarters, USS Orlando
Timeline: Mission Day 01, 1230

ON [[Aharonov’s Quarters, USS Orlando, MD-01, 1230 hours]]

Yehonathan stepped into his quarters and sighed. It had already been a very long day in a very short period of time. After the launch of the ship, he’d retreated to his office and began pouring over everything he could about the area of space they’d be patrolling. While reviewing the data there had been more than one eyebrow raise.

He’d began getting a light headache and realized that he hadn’t eaten anything all day and that was probably the cause of the problem. Well that and the fact that he’d been pouring over data on his terminal all morning.

He walked sluggishly over to the replicator, “Pirozhki and hot tea.”

Pirozhki, stuffed meat pies, were a favor of Yehonathan’s and was something he considered comfort food. He always seemed to go back to those types of dishes when he didn’t feel well or home sick.

He took the food and tea that materialized from the replicator and made his way over to the small table in his quarters. He sat down and started eating, delighting in every bite of the savory meat and rice, when he saw a tan and black flash from the back of the room.

He smiled to himself, “Come on now. I know that it’s all new for you but you’ll get used to it. You’ve gotten used to all the other places quickly and I don’t expect this to be different.”

He tore a bit of the pie off and held his hand down toward the floor.

A small pink nose poked out from behind the couch and sniffed the air. One foot appeared, then another, then a scurry of fur across the floor.

Akim was a small sable that Yehonathan had received as a gift from a friend of his when he was growing up in the orphanage. Sasha had eventually become a veterinarian for the Moscow Zoo once they’d grown up and knew that Yehonathan always enjoyed the smaller creatures that acted much bigger than they actually were.

Akim ate the pirozhki ravenously, as if he hadn’t eaten anything all day although Yehonathan knew that wasn’t true. He looked over at his food and water dish and noticed that they were both about half empty.

He scratched behind Akim’s ear, “You better watch it my furry little friend. Gluttony is one of the seven deadly sins.”

Akim tilted his small head and chattered at Yehonathan. He was sure that Akim was chiding him as much as he’d chided Akim. He flipped his nose up in the air and trotted off in the other direction toward his small bed next to the couch, curled up into a small fur ball and quickly nodded off to sleep.

Yehonathan smiled and looked down at his plate. The little devil had ate most of Yehonathan’s lunch. He smirked and shook his head slowly.

“The life of a pet.” Yehonathan said quietly to himself as he got up and headed toward the door, and a mountain of research.
